I was thinking it would be good for us to create a set of Rules for BADspammers similar to the policy set by other feeders. TEP has a good policy on their forum and a link to their BADspam forum message is posted in their WFE. Do we want to create a similar set of rules? TEP's AdSpam rules: http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/The_East...?showtopic=6875 NationStates ONE STOP RULES SHOP (for those who never bothered reading it): http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=13 |

I also like TEP's rules. If we had a similar policy, violators could be reported here in a BADspam thread (with supporting evidence) and I would be happy to send CommRanger Warnings on behalf of the region. But first, we would have to have a policy. What do others think? |

I like what I see in TEP's policy. I think it'd also be reasonable to ask adspammers to avoid comments or questions that imply TWP is a lousy region to live in (e.g., "Are you sick of being lost in the crowd?", "Looking for a region that actually cares about you?"). |

A policy set out in clear terms like TEP's would be a good way forward for TWP. Yes it's something we should do I believe. BBD |

Putting all of that in the WFE will probably look crowded. A link to a nice, clean thread here with the rules would be better. |

As posted in TEP's forums: 1 - No messages over 10 lines in length 2 - No messages in all or almost all capital letters 3 - No messages in all or almost all bold, underlined, or italicized letters 4 - No messages containing excessive punctuation marks 5 - No messages that insult other nations or regions. #1: Does this include spaces? #2: What about symbols/designs? #3: At what percentage of the message does "all" constitute ? #4: See #2 #5: A more refined definition of "insult" would be more appropriate and or appreciated What do you all think? |

OMG KITTY

#1 Yes, they contribute to the overall length #2 See #4 #3 Simply change it to "or a majority" #4 Add in "or symbols" #5 change insult to defame #6 No ASCII art. Haven't see any in a while but that doesn't make it less annoying. |

But we like the kegs that BB drops us. We don't like BADSpammers. We do like a couple of regular recruiters though. Bluto and BB come to mind. I suggest putting in some words that give us leeway. Something like "no excessive ASCII art" or "all ASCII art must be preapproved" |

1 - No displayed messages over 10 lines in length, including spaces 2 - No messages in all or almost all capital letters 3 - No messages written excessively in bold, underlined, or italicized letters 4 - No messages containing excessive punctuation marks or symbols 5 - No ASCII art, unless pre-approved by the Delegate 6 - No messages that defame or malign The West Pacific Upon the recruiter's first offense, the Delegate or his representative will issue a warning statement by telegram to the recruiter. Upon the recruiter's second offense, the Delegate may report, ban and/or eject the recruiter. |

How about "special provisions" for recruiters like BB and AHR? Would it be fair to word it in such a way as to allow for future considerations of others? What about flagging any provision with a residency clause: nations that take up permanent residence are allowed some leeway graphically? This post has been edited by yy4u on Feb 8 2010, 01:14 PM |

I think the *pre-approved by the Delegate* covers them. In fact, it is easy to simply *ignore* those recruiters we like. It is the BADspammers who would be sent a Del Warn. |
